The UCI Gran Fondo World Series concept is aimed at both the competitive riders who either just miss the skills and talent to become a Pro Elite rider or who still want to compete at a high level at a later age, as well as riders who like to keep fit, finish the event and like to ride for fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UCI Granfondo World Series (former UCI World Cycling Tour and UCI Amateur World Championships) launched in 2011 and is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world. Some 20 qualifier events will qualify the top 25% in each age group to the UCI Granfondo World Championships, the former UWCT Final and UCI Masters Road World Championships, where the champions are awarded with the coveted rainbow jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will be held in Varese, Italy in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tour of Cambridgeshire is the UK\u2019s qualifier event for the UCI GF World Championships, which will be in held in Varese, Italy in 2018. The top 25% rider finisher times within each age group in the\u00a0Chrono\u00a0and also the\u00a0Gran Fondo Race\u00a0and\u00a0Gran Fondo Sportive\u00a0collectively, will qualify for the World Championships. At the World Championships, all riders must hold a current \u2018Full Racing License\u2019 from their National governing body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition at the World Championships is based upon the UCI Masters age \/ gender classifications, which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 45-49yrs
\u2022 50-54yrs
\u2022 55-59yrs
